One of my favorite old school beats: That song is fucking great! Hip hop in the 90's were good and real, now it's only crappy posers and bling bling fuckers. This is in the same ''jazz rap'' genre as The Pharcyde.

This one is also really good. A bit darker than The Pharcyde or Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth.

That Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth song takes me way back as well man. Amazing throwback track that actually has meaningful lyrics. Something you don't see much of these days.

If you compare one of the most intelligent hip hop lyrics of all time, De La Soul - Eye Know
To this ear torture piece of shit, you know why the future is fucked.
I honestly rather get ass raped than be forced to listen to this fucking braindead shitfest that is modern hip hop.

The only reason why there is an overflow of what you call "fucking braindead shitfest", is because there is a demand for it. I wouldn't say the future is fucked. If you take a look back we only remember the very good songs from the past, and so it will be in the future. Endure and survive buddy

Endure and survive buddy And the reason there is a demand for it is because people are fucking dumb and likes braindead music that's only about money, cars and girls. And you get a plus if the lyrics are as few words as possible. In fact, i think i could write a hip hop track that only have the lyrics , money, cars, bling and bitches, looping over a beat for 3 minutes. Its god damn awful. Anyway, here's a hip hop classic from Sweden. The song is about relaxing, skip work, go to a park and open a beer. You don't need to understand the lyrics to appreciate the beat and the melody. At least that's what i believe. It's Just D with Relalalaxa from 1991.

For once I agree with you You guys need to take a closer look. For example, here's a couple tracks that are new and incredible, and don't fit the wannabe gangsta mould:

Shad is okay i guess, and that Clear Soul Forces song had nice beats but it's a bit to repetitive flow for me. And too much hipster hip hop too. Seems like there is only two hip hop genres today. Bling bling hip hop and hipster hip hop.
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it." Just listen to this incredible groove. The bass is amazing and the drums are simple yet groovy.

Bling bling hip hop and hipster hip hop. That's up to you not to view it that way. Once people realize that there's no such thing as "hipster" music, then music will be a lot better for them. I work in music so it's something I think about everyday. At every conference I go to, people are continually trying to come up with ways to make the greater public realize this. A good friend of mine wrote this article the other week about pigeonholing people into genres, and stopping the "Indie vs. Mainstream" debate. He's in a "hipster" indie band, but the article is about him loving mainstream rock/pop. The underlying message is to forget what you think about what's behind the music and just enjoy each song for what it is.
Edit: Also really, really love the Blues Brothers.

The underlying message is to forget what you think about what's behind the music and just enjoy easy song for what it is.I mean the style of the artist more then the style of the music. And lyrics that are obvious targeted to the hipster audience. To be honest, you will probably never meat a guy who has more diversity in music taste than me. iv'e got 172 hours Alternative Rock, 67 hours Drum n Bass, 189 hours grunge, over 30 hours indie pop/electronic, 27 hours Jazz, 147 hours progressive metal, about 25 hours of different rap genres, 36 hours shoegaze and 62 hours dream pop, 208 hours hard rock and metal, 37 hours glam/hair metal, a bit over 40 hours dance and house and 74 hours of pop singles from the 70's until today on my computer. And i have not even counted every sub-genre then. I just don't like shallow music with shallow messages. Or music that only exists to make money. And the billboard is filled with that shit. The article was very good. Ps. I've never understood the Nickelback hate...They have great melodies, great riffs, great rhythm section. To me, a song with a melody that is good is a good song. With out a good melody there is no song.

The end product is all that matters. I can tell you have a broad musical palette from this thread, just enjoying some healthy debate.

Certain styles i can't watch or listen to. For an example, look up Rej3ctz - Cat Daddy...If they look and sound like that, it's just it for me. BUT everyone has their own preferences when it comes to music. It's just that mine are much better And i'm always up for a healthy debate bro!
