I'm putting together a few things on the forums of the new Vice Gamers site and needed some dummy content so I started writing out some race etiquette. And then I thought, why don't we come up with some and when we move over to the new forums, they will be there waiting. They don't have to be complex, but I figured with the influx in crew race battles, we might as well have something.
For inspiration APEX and NODO both have pretty exhaustive guidelines. I don't think we need to go as in depth, but pull what you like from those and come up with our own, and I'll update this post with the ideas we agree upon and when we transfer sites we'll have a sticky at the top of the shiny new Motorsports section.
Edit: The list so far.

Edit: The list so far.
- Don't go balls out into turn one, except if the chance is really there.
- Not everyone knows how to make the turbo start (or simply can screw up), keep that in mind if you are behind on the grid: be prepared to dodge the cars in front of you.
- If you're ahead, leave reasonable room on the straight lines so the ones behind can perform a clean pass. There is a difference between defend your position and driving like you're drunk.
- Just because you're slipstreaming doesn't mean you're able to pass, be careful not to bump into the player infront of you, and don't pass them too tight as there might be some lag.
- When you're behind a player you don't decide when to brake, the one infront of you does. There's nothing worse when you're braking and then someone rams you in the arse.
- Learn to love your brakes, brakes are just as essential as maneuvering and acceleration. If you time your braking well you will go so much faster the following corners.
- Don't drive like an asshole. Basically don't do something to others you won't have them doing to you.
- Shit happens - If you're the obvious reason for someone to spin out or hit a wall, wait for them to overtake you, here I don't want you to stop completely but do drive with reduced speed until the guy/gal you have crashed have overtaken you.
- Don't get back on the track without checking for others after you spin out. It's tempting gun it and barge back on to the track to recover quickly, but take a half a second to make sure you're not impeding other racers re-entering the course.
- If someone is passing you and has got a lot more of the car infront of you in a corner, let him pass and live to fight an other day instead of possibly being the reason for a crash.
- If you play a created race, judge the track not the racers. And maybe like it out of respect for a crew member.
- Try to avoid hitting shit on the course, not will it only make your lap times better, but others don't have to worry about falling lamp posts.
