I thought this as well, but have you seen how much positive feedback that R* is getting for doing this? It's actually insane in my opinion. If you check the R* Newswire there is nothing but praise for them releasing it on PC and next gen, the same goes for facebook. Anybody who even followed the game (not purchased) would still have knowledge of all of the bugs and exploits that we are / have endured. They aren't even getting any bad press about the current state of the game which is still sub par. Take all of that and wrap it up with another $60 price tag and you apparently get the fans drooling and possibly another Billion $$$ in sales.
I honestly never thought that a company could get away with something like this but apparently I was mistaken.
I think we were a testing ground for R*'s online system and that we were essentially "beta" testing the online portion for them until they got the true release of the game ready. I think the current ports were just their way of stemming the tide until they could polish things up on the next-gen ports ... but I'm guessing a big part of the reason that we've been getting minimal content is so that they could get this out on the newer systems. I'm glad I'm not the only person who's thought this. Even before the next gen/PC versions were announced I always assumed it would get a next gen release, so I've kinda felt like the 360 version of GTA V isn't the "real" or "full" game. I agree, sometimes it seems like we're just beta testing it on hardware that can barely even run it. From that standpoint it's kind of annoying and I'm not thrilled to be buying it a second time, but hopefully the PC release will fix most of the problems of the current gen versions.

If there was a discount or rebate to buy the new versions that would make lots of people happy, but I think for the most part, people will just go back to gamestop with their old copies and trade it in for the least amount possible to put towards the new ones.

I say, just wait and see. We don't know for sure how it's really gonna go down until we get closer to launch. I like the upgraded graphics and all. And i'm going to be moving to next-gen consoles anyways, so by default why not get the next gen version. GTA is literally the ONLY thing that's keeping me tied to my loud and slow 360 at this point. And lets not forget that the consoles are one thing, but the performance of the game online solely depends on that shitty "Cloud" architecture that they've already proved doesn't work too well.
So unless they announce dedicated servers or design a complete new architecture for the Next Gen and PC consoles, I wouldn't get too excited about the next gen GTAO. It will likely be the same as the current GTAO.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games I've ever played. Storyline was crazy.
I remember when the PS4 dropped last November and they offered a $10 charge to trade in a PS3 Madden for a PS4 version. That would be nice because trying to get someone to pay $60 for the exact same game is crazy. I really hope they have some improvements and additional content to justify this though.
Anyone that has a PS4 and plays online, is it annoying to have to purchase a Plus or does it not bother you at all?
