well by hireing more or working more means they would have to shell out more money which means less in theirs. what do they care parents are still buying these games for their 10-15 year olds(to act like a babysitter I might add) without seeing what kind of content is in the game. and as long as the parents don't care whats in the game then rockstar doesn't give a shit either. they are putting these updates out for free so they are going to use as little workforce as possible to produce it

I think it's more of a money thing with R*. And some incompetency also for sure. Well, it it's about money we all ought to be afraid. Then the heist may as well come in the autumn. Shouldn't Rockstar have enough money based on this information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_V#SalesThey should bathe in money right now. I would advise them to fucking invest that money on their fanbase so they come back to next game. Edit: Saw this on facebook: The Capture Creator update for GTA Online is coming this Friday. From now until Friday, earn 2X RP & GTA$ on all Capture Jobs. That's great news, Hopefully people are gonna play capture then!

From today's patch:
"Fixed an issue where if a player drank Whisky in their apartment until they passed out, this could cause a clone to appear who would then attack them."
The fuck?

$1 billion in sales is not $1 billion in profit, still it's a shitload. Yea ofc, but they had earned 1 billion in sales AFTER THREE DAYS...That's god damn insane and im sure they have surpassed 1 billion in profit by now. They really have no excuse in delaying all this shit this much.

and it works at the military base as well I just grabed a jet with no wanted level Does that include military attention as well, or only police? If so, I'm not looking forward to seeing jets and tanks become a lot more common.

Im really looking forward to being able to get a tank without spending all my money to counter all the griefers.

True, but then it's just as easy for them or anyone else to just go back get another one themselves. I guess I just prefer tanks/jets to be a rarely seen pain in the ass rather than all over the place even if that means they're easier to deal with.

Keep in mind some, if not most of that profit goes back to the backer. Whomever carried them along during the development time gets a certain percentage of that back. On top of that, there are other costs to think of like advertising, publishing, and everything else that goes into making this game. Rockstar studios isn't even a centralized entity and if you watch the credits you can see how many people put their hands into this game. So on all that, the fact that they made a billion in sales in three days means that people were finally paid that needed to be paid and that's a lot of frickin' people. And, on top of the fact that we haven't had to pay for these updates yet is something short of surprising.
In short, yeah, they may not be producing updates really quickly, but that's the give to having free updates that they're really not garnering any money on. Updates that take time away from other projects the studio is most likely working on. Hell, the fact that they're taking extra time to work on the creator means that maybe it'll drop without bugs. That's a win for me.

That's a win for me. It doesn't work that way. They don't work for free until the game is released. And they have lots and lots of billions from every other game they have released too so the buffer is not only what they have earned from the profit of GTA V. They should put the profit from other games into the development of GTA online cause that's their biggest thing right now and that's where they earn and lose fans. Besides, when it's 6 months old it's not about taking extra time to get things right, it's just about lazyness or greed. And with a big enaugh team, bugs won't be a problem. Bugs is a problem for either bad programmers or small studios. One of the top three studios should not have those bug problems GTA Online are having. You can excuse that by saying that it's their first big online game but as i wrote, 6 months is long time fixing things if they really cared. But Rockstar has always been this way. Fuck everybody and their opinions to do it their way. It's their way or the highway. And if you love GTA you just have to deal with it. They know too well that everybody who is complaining will come buy next Red Dead game and the next GTA game so they can afford not to give a shit. That's their way and always has been. EDIT: What do you mean with backers? Im pretty sure Rockstar doesn't need any backers to make what the want.

Then charge for updates... I don't give a fuck. Why let all that potential go to waste? because there is no $$$ motivation for Rockstar to stay on top of their shit? Did they not see this problem coming? especially after how GTAIV multiplayer turned. Like I said before... it's incompetence.
And on top of that they keep everybody in the dark and say nothing the whole time about the problems.

I didn't say they work for free, but the way it DOES work is that the revenue they make from selling their games and licenses are how they keep their company going. The games cost a few millions to make at least and the larger scale the game, the more money you throw at it to maintain it. Considering they have to run and maintain servers as well means that there is a lot of money coming in that can be used to support the quality of the game and development process. Essentially, the money they got goes toward future IPs and maintenance. What it boils down to is that the company doesn't generate money until they sell a product and the profit from that, goes back into the company. Cyclical.
As far as 6 months and problems still not fixed; Think about how big this game is. Just like in the MMO world, there are A LOT of things the go into the different aspects of the game. That is an insurmountable amount of coding that goes into all of that and given how even the slightest little thing being off can break the whole system, I can understand why things take forever to release. I would hope it all goes through a stringent testing process before it gets released, but they realize too, that if they don't push out a product, there are going to be some very unhappy customers out there. Yeah, there are some broken parts, but I do see them trying to fix them in big bundles on a periodic basis. If this were in the pc market, those updates could be smaller and more sporadic, but the way updates can be pushed through the Xbox/PSN marketplaces, they have to keep those policies in mind while also making sure bugs are addressed on both systems. It's not perfect and it sucks waiting, but I don't think it possible to be any quicker unless they up their programming staff, which as I see it, is improbable due to what they're probably trying to accomplish elsewhere.

Did they not see this problem coming? especially after how GTAIV multiplayer turned. Like I said before... it's incompetence. And on top of that they keep everybody in the dark and say nothing the whole time about the problems. I agree 100%. It sucks to have such an amazing platform in place, only to let it fall by the wayside due to lack of interest from paying customers. People fell in love with the game not only because of what it is, but the potential of what it could be. They even have millions of people lined up waiting for the next bone to be thrown to us and it still takes way too long for content.
I have to go back to my original assumptions about R* and I will say the same thing over and over until they prove me wrong. They don't fully understand the programming of their own game for online purposes. There has been way too many consistent flaws to assume anything different in my opinion. I would like nothing more than to be wrong about what I think about GTA Online. I keep hoping that they will just fix the overall performance issues to prove that they have a handle on advancing the potential of this great game. Like always, time will tell.
