Yesterday I posted a thread hear about doing some co-op type stuff to practice for heists or really just to make for better teamwork amongst the crew. Anyway, one of the ideas I posited was a team deathmatch that I have played with some friends called Cops and Robbers. Sorry PS3 guys, I only have an xbox link, but it should be pretty easy to replicate basically for PS3. Here is a small writeup on that deathmatch.
Deathmatch link (XBOX): LINK UPDATED BELOW socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/jobs/job/LDYYZRMABEe3msQ6VE7pbQ?platformId=null
New TDM: socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/jobs/job/itCODCCuIECwKd3Q4sHCRA?platformId=null
CONCEPT OF OPERATION: *NOTE: Following rules is important. If you just have a bunch of randoms in here, this will be no fun other than on a team deathmatch level. This deathmatch is really about the roleplay.
This is a three team deathmatch with the third team being optional. One team plays the role of the police, The second team plays the role of the robbers and there is an optional third team I will call Civilians. It is pretty wide open what you could do, but as it is set up it makes sense for the robbers to rob the bank (they spawn next to it) but they could rob a store instead or find some other criminal type thing to do. The important thing is that everyone knows more or less what is going on. It is best to discuss this in the lobby load screen before start, so everyone is on the same page.
For this description we will work with a bank robbery / hostage situation / escape.
Start points for police is at the police station in Rockford Hills. Near this spawn there will be several police vehicles (cruisers, riot van, even a helicopter -- although sometimes the medevac one spawns instead of the police one) there are also weapon spawns here for the police.
Start points for robbers is near the bank in Vinewood Hills. There are vehicle and weapon spawns here as well, but the weapons are not as nice as the police get.
Start points for civilians is also near the bank in Vinewood Hills. No vehicle or weapons spawns have been created for this group.
Any of these rules can be changed or reworked however works best for everyone, below is just a suggestion for how it can work.
SETUP and NOTES:
This is a Team Death Match (TDM), so there is not too much setup needed. All vehicles, firearms and equipment should be spawned on the map.
Cops and Robbers teams each can have 8 players, Civilians can have up to 5 players (but there is a hard limit of 16 for the map)
If at any point you are killed in this TDM you are expected to enter the Strip club and wait for the match to finish.
Recommend: 10 kills, Team Balancing off
All spawn points are at the strip club. If you are killed you are not supposed to go back to the TDM, you are supposed to wait in the strip club.
There are a couple of special weapons caches at two AmmuNations
There are aircraft at Sandy Shores (I could not place at LSI) including a Shamal Business jet, frogger and cargobob. There is also a frogger spawn on top of one of the tall buildings.
There are some vehicle spawn points near the bank including some busses, sanchez etc... and police vehicles all spawn near the Rockford Hills Station (the should be used by police role only, as they do not respawn and it can get confusing otherwise.
POLICE ROLE:
Once the DM starts, police role will get in a vehicle (or even foot patrol) and fan out just doing a normal patrol. Police should be identifiable, so a blue helmet and black body armor could be easily put on to help ID players as police. Robbers are not considered "bad guys" until they rob the bank. So police can pull them over and do traffic stops (prior to bank robbery), or go after them if they are doing something obviously illegal. Police WILL NOT attack bad guys unprovoked, but once the crime has occurred, all robbers are bad guys and police can pursue them.
When the robbers rob the bank, one of the team members will use the in game phone to call one of the police, to let them know where the robbery is happening. That police office will announce over chat the crime, location and police should then respond. Once this crime has occurred the robbers are criminals and police can pursue them, shoot at them etc...
Police will set up a perimeter, negotiate if there are hostages, and prepare to storm the bank.
Police must avoid killing anyone in the Civilian role.
If at any time a Police officer is killed, they will go to the strip club and wait for the DM to end.
ROBBER ROLE:
Once the DM starts robbers will set up to rob the bank and get anyting set up they need. Police will be patrolling but not actively after you until the bank robbery starts (or if you do something obviously illegal). If people want you can play traffic stops and stuff for a bit before the robbery, police should act appropriately, but if robbers start shooting police at this phase, all robbers will be considered fair game and we will probably not get to the bank robbery, so use discretion. Robbers can also use this time to plan elements of the bank robbery / escape
Once the robbers start to rob the bank one of them will need to use the in game phone to call one of the police and inform them the crime is occurring (and where if that has not been pre-decided). Robbers need to find the vault door (it is a cage by the tellers -- since we cant get all the way to the vault yet) and hold the bank for 2 minutes. Expect police to converge on the bank, you will need to hold them off and make an escape for LSI Airport. Once you get to the Titan hanger you are safe.
There could be players in the civilian role in the bank that may be used as hostages (but this should be pre-arranged). Robbers should avoid killing hostages if possible as they are a valuable asset
*NOTE All robbers do not need to enter the bank but enough to be realistic (2 or 3 at least). Other robbers can take cover to attack arriving police, or even go get something to help with extract and escape (imagine a helo pickup or something like that)
If at any time a robber is killed they will go the strip club and wait for the DM to end.
Robbers MUST not take police vehicles (but can grab weapons if they want), they do not respawn and after a while things thin out, plus it gets confusing.
Civilian Role:
Up to 5 on this team. These players will not engage in combat (although they do spawn with pistols) , but act as civilians to be hostages or play special roles etc...
Once the DM starts the Civilians / Hostages will enter the bank (they spawn at front door) and wait for robbers to come rob the bank. These players will be the hostages to ensure that the police do not "do anything stupid".
WINNERS / LOSERS:
1. If all police end up dead, robbers win
2. If all living robbers make it to objective (TBD) robbers win
3. If all robbers end up dead, police win
4. If at end of time all living robbers have not made it to objective, Police win. <-- forgot this one.
TLDR: Yeah right.
EDIT: Added a new TDM that I created tonight. This one has three teams so one group can be hostages. Also set spawn points to the strip club, so when you die, you will spawn there.
