Apparently the Firework launcher will still be in your inventory, you just won't be able to buy more ammo for it after the event. Once it runs out it you won't be able to select it.
I plan on loading the thing up with max ammo and buying a full pack of fireworks on the last day of the event so I can shoot off a random firework every once in a while, assuming that'll work.
