I've got the next week off work so going to have a bash at designing a few tracks based (roughly) on English race tracks.
I think i heard welly say that you want 7 plus laps as you get more rp? So are shorter more action packed tracks better than longer ones?
Any other pointers ? Hopefully i'll have some tracks to give to the vccm community by the end of the week.
Oh one last thing, i'm looking for a straight that goes into right hand downhill then up hill to another right hand bend, any suggestions which streets might be worth a look?

It's not seven laps but about 7 mins. shorter laps can be more action packed but it's always going to be a personal choice the only pointer I can really give you is test your races multiply times

Test to make sure it flows and is obvious?
I guess test time of race so it is 7min plus.
Which races are better received long flowy tracks or short twisty tracks with more action?

Both go down well it can depend on class but I like to put a bit of both in my races if I can

Try placing checkpoints in choke points to ensure they get triggered. You only get to place 50 props, so shorter tracks can be set up and marked more clearly. I personally like challenging corners followed by longish straights so that carrying speed out of a corner is the key to victory.

All good points, my tracks are going to be based on uk racetracks but most of them have 2 layouts which promote 2 totally different styles of racing.
ie touring cars went to oulton park and used the long track and it was rubbish, the cars were too evenly matched and couldn't overtake, normally they use the short track so it's more how quick you accelerate rather than top speed so they get more chance's to overtake.
I've got traces of the tracks so going to overlay them on the street map and see what works, only thing is i need to try and work out elevation as i want a right turn down a hill up other side another right then another plunge down a hill.

I have discovered that the race payouts increase when the race lasts more than 4 minutes regardless of action or props. As for finding that turn, if you try all my races you are bound to find what you are looking for, as nearly all the roads on the map are covered.
