Just thought with the crew growing if members would like to share some interesting facts about their hometowns. I'II start , here in Newbridge Ireland we have an internationally recognised cutlery known as " Newbridge Cutlery" in the same premises there is a museum of style icons the only one of its kind anywhere in the world and has such exhibits as Michael Jacksons jacket from the Jackson five and one of Princess Dianas dresses along with clothing from the likes of Rita hayworth and other famous faces from that era including the last picture taken of Marilyn Monroe, Not bad for a medium sized town on the outskirts of Dublin with only 21,000. Any interesting facts or places in anyones hometowns ??

This song is about my town back in the 50's and 60's. Stomping Tom is a Canadian old school legend like Neil Young or bands like The Guess Who. It definitely makes us all look like hicks but the song tells quite the tale about how hard they used to work.

- Philadelphia is the birthplace of America's first-ever daily newspaper. "The Philadelphia Packet and Daily Advertiser" ran for six years, from 1784 to 1790.
- Philadelphia was where the first American Flag was designed, sewn by Betsy Ross out of her humble upholstery shop.
- Philadelphia is considered to be one of the most haunted cities in the United States of America, and has one of the highest densities of haunted houses.
- Philadelphia is the home to the Liberty Bell, an icon of American history. A common myth is that "Pennsylvania" is misspelled on the bell, but in fact, the state's name hadn't a common spelling at the time the bell was forged--"Pensylvania" was considered an acceptable alternative.
- Philadelphia is home to Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were both signed and adopted.
- Philadelphia is the birthplace of the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Brothers Pat and Harry Olivieri first served the sandwich in the 1930s from a little hot dog stand. The sandwich was so popular, Pat was able to open his own restaurant.

Newbury is a civil parish and the principal town in the west of the county of Berkshire in England. It is situated on the River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal, and has a town centre containing many 17th-century buildings. Newbury is best known for its racecourse. The adjoining countryside is notable for agriculture, racehorse training, Highclere Castle, ruined Donnington Castle and has the former USAF airbase at Greenham Common.RAF Greenham Common.
Greenham Common in the late 80s A large Royal Air Force station was established during the Second World War at Greenham Common on the edge of the town. In the 1950s, it became home to US Air Force bombers and tankers, for which it was equipped with the longest military runway in the United Kingdom. In the 1980s, it became one of only two USAF bases in the UK equipped with ground-launched nuclear-armed cruise missiles, causing it to become the site of protests by up to 40,000 protesters and the establishment of the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. With the end of the Cold War, the base was closed, the runway was broken up for use as fill material in building the Newbury bypass, and much of the area was restored to heathland.

Near my home is the Spanish Monastery. This is considered to be the oldest building in the country. A Spanish Lord bought the building and had it shipped block by block from Spain and reassembled here. It is a great place to visit. I was also married there.
